Conditions
A. Arrival:
Please ensure you arrive half an hour
before the course start time
B. Health:
You should be confident in water and able
to swim 25 metres without the use of a life jacket buoyancy aid. You
should be physically fit for the course and must advise on the booking
form of any illness or medical disability such as diabetes, epilepsy,
asthma, heart condition, recent injuries, deafness, etc. and therefore you
should check with your doctor before making a booking and be in a position
to produce a note from your doctor, if required.
C. Safety
:
In addition to enjoyment and learning new
skills, safety is of paramount important on all Bala Adventure and
Watersports’ courses. All clients must comply with the safety regulations
and instructions of Centre staff. Clearly, Watersports and adventure
activities are hazardous by their nature and participants, parents or
guardians must accept that there are risks and the inevitable bumps and
scrapes which happen during the thrills and spills of fast moving
activities. To manage the risks so far as we are able, we have a ‘safe
system of work’ - we only employ qualified experienced staff; we provide
a range of quality personal protective and safety equipment; we provide
up-to-date equipment for your course; we teach to national governing body
recommendations and guidelines, we have robust management and safety
systems which have been inspected by approved bodies such as AALA, RYA,
WTB and BCU; we reserve the right to modify or cancel an activity if we
feel that there are unmanageable risks.
D. Spectacles:
Only spectacles with solid plastic frames
and plastic lenses are permitted to be worn. Participants may wear
contact lenses. Participants with poor eyesight who are unable to
participate without their own spectacles must consult Bala Adventure and
Watersports staff to assess their suitability to course safety.
E Mountain Biking:
Please ensure when booking Mountain Biking
as a group activity that all members of the group can ride bike. Gloves
are not supplied but are recommended.
F. Payment:
All
bookings must be accompanied by the appropriate payment including
insurance premium, where required; a non-returnable deposit of 50% of
course fee is required when booking is made, the balance is to be paid six
weeks before the start of the course; payment to be made in full if a
course is booked less than six weeks before it starts; Crossed
cheques/postal orders should be made payable to ‘Bala Adventure and
Watersports Centre’ and sent to Centre Office, Bala Lake Foreshore, Bala,
Gwynedd LL23 7SR; Credit and Debit cards accepted, when paying a deposit
the balance of course fees will automatically be debited from your card no
more than 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your course, unless advised
otherwise by you.
G. Cancellations by Client:
All cancellations must be in writing; your
personal insurance may provide cover against certain unavoidable
cancellation; if you cancel up to eight weeks before the start of your
course, you only lose your deposit; if less than six weeks notice of
cancellation is given after payment of the balance of the course fee has
been made, 80 percent of your course fee is retained; if you cancel four
weeks or less before the start of your course, 100 per cent of the course
fee will be retained; course bookings may only be transferred up to 4
weeks prior to the commencement of the original course booking. This is
subject to course availability and a 10% administration fee.
H. Cancellations by Bala
Adventure and Watersports Centre:
Every attempt will be made to ensure your
course actually runs. However, we reserve the right to cancel a course if
viable numbers are not achieved at any time; in all other cases, weekend
courses may be cancelled up to 3 weeks prior to the start date. Longer
courses may be cancelled up to 4 weeks before the start date; where a
course has to be cancelled, we will offer either a full refund of fees or
another course on the same date or a different set of dates. Bala
Adventure and Watersports will not accept any liability for any other
expenditure or costs incurred by prospective participants.
I. Equipment:
All necessary safety equipment is provided
as part of your course fee, apart from footwear. The Centre shop sells
arrange of items, including clothing, log books, wet suit boots, gloves,
chandlery, tea & coffee, etc.

Gift Vouchers:
Gift Vouchers are available through denominations of £10-£100 and are non
refundable and are valid for 12 months from date of purchase. It is
imperative that you book your chosen date with as much notice as possible
to save disappointment. At various times throughout the year certain
activities are not possible due to conditions out of our control, it is
important to arrange your date early as vouchers WILL NOT be extended.
