Hafod Las is a
completely private and self-contained annex to Pen Cefn farmhouse. From
the lounge and kitchen windows and the patio there is the most amazing
view down the Dee Valley, where you can see Bala lake nestling between the
Arenig and Aran Benllyn mountain ranges. This lovely cottage has several
features which help guests with mobility difficulties and is especially
suitable for the elderly. However it is open to all and there is also room
to include a cot for babies.

The cottages are all double glazed and centrally
heated, with quality furnishings and well equipped kitchens which include
full size cookers, fridge/freezers, microwaves, kettles and toasters. All
crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided to Wales Tourist Board
standards. Kitchen linen, washing-up liquid, cleaning materials etc are
always provided.
Lounge and dining suites comfortably and adequately
seat the number of guests each cottage accommodates and there are colour
televisions and videos in each lounge, with a small selection of films
In addition to those in the cottages there is a library
(housed in the laundry) with a wide selection of books, videos and games
for guests to borrow.
The bathrooms have heating, razor points and over-bath electric
showers, with the exception of Hafod Las which has a walk
in shower and no bath. There are two bath towels provided for each guest. Toilet rolls
and all bathroom cleaning materials are supplied.
The bedrooms all have full size beds, which are made
ready for guests’ arrival. The beds have duvets and two pillows per guest,
additional blankets are supplied for those who feel the cold! There are
fitted wardrobes and plenty of cupboard and drawer space in each room.
Babies are welcome, as indeed are all children. A cot
and high chair can be
provided on request. We also welcome one dog as part
of the family, but must impress on guests that this is sheep country and
dogs must be kept under control at all times.
All heating, hot water and electricity is included in
the tariff and there is a laundry on site, with washing machine, tumble
and spin driers, iron and ironing board and hot and cold water on tap, we
also supply washing powder, softener and tumble sheets. This facility is
also included in the tariff.
(The laundry)
The cottages all have their own enclosed gardens, for the safety of
small children and pets, and have garden furniture and
barbecues. The large grounds and gardens all around are for everyone’s
pleasure to use for their relaxation and there are two beautiful large
ponds, which teem with wild-life. These ponds are gated and fenced for the
further protection of young children, so we do ask that the gates are kept
closed at all times. There is also a playing field for children to kick a
ball about and seating for parents who don’t want to kick a ball about!
The view from here is lovely with Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) in the distance.
You will be welcomed at "Pen Cefn" where you collect
the keys for the cottage of your choice. In the cottage you will find a
welcome pack with home made cake, tea, coffee, sugar and milk so that you
can make a “paned” (Welsh for cuppa) on arrival which we hope will refresh
you after your long journey. Fresh eggs from our free range chickens are
often available for sale at Pen Cefn kitchen (as long as the chickens are
doing their job properly!).
